Employer Sponsored Visa Australia

Employer sponsored visas are those visas types under which an Australian employer can sponsor genuinely skilled workers from other countries to work for them in Australia.

There are mainly three categories of visas under Employer Sponsored visas:

Common Criteria for Employer Sponsored Visas are as Follows:

An Australian employer needs to sponsor and nominate the application. Job offer is needed.
First step is to apply for the sponsorship. The employer needs to apply for the standard business sponsorship (SBS).
After applying for SBS, the employer needs to apply for nomination.
Labour marketing testing needs to be done by the employer
The applicant must have a positive skill assessment from the relevant assessing authority.
The age of the applicant must be under 45 years of age unless exempt.
The applicant must meet the English requirement.

Subclass 482(TSS) is designed to allow the employers to address labour shortages by bringing in genuinely skilled workers from overseas where appropriately skilled Australians cannot be sourced. This visa is to address temporary skill shortages. TSS visa holder can bring their family members to Australia, and they can also work and study while in Australia. There is no limit on the number of times the TSS holder can travel in and out of Australia with the valid visa. The visa holder can work for approved sponsor in their approved occupation.

There three streams under TSS

Short term stream -for the employers to source skilled workers for short term positions in an occupation for a maximum of two years.
Medium-term stream- for the employers to source skilled workers to fill medium term needs for up to four years. Workers become eligible for permanent residence after working for 3 years.
Labour Agreement Stream- employers can apply in this stream where the employer’s need can be met in Labour market in Australia and standard TSS visa program is not available.

There are three stages in sponsoring overseas worker under Temporary skill shortage visa.
