The Resident Return Visa (Subclass 155 and 157)

The Resident Return Visa Subclass 155 and 157 permit former Australian permanent residents and certain former Australian citizens to return to Australia as permanent residents. This visa has two streams, Subclass 155 and Subclass 157, each with its own eligibility criteria and conditions.

The Subclass 155 visa is for former Australian permanent residents who have spent a significant period of time in Australia and wish to return as permanent residents. To be eligible for this visa, applicants must have lived in Australia for at least two out of the five years immediately before applying or have substantial business, cultural, employment, or personal ties to Australia that are of benefit to the country.

The Subclass 157 visa is for former Australian permanent residents whose permanent residency has expired or been canceled and who do not meet the requirements for the Subclass 155 visa. This visa allows individuals to return to Australia as permanent residents if they have compelling reasons for their absence from Australia or if they can demonstrate substantial ties to the country.

These visas provide a pathway for individuals to re-establish their ties to Australia and resume their lives as permanent residents in the country.
